My main research focus is the application of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) to applications where there would be a danger of health risk to pilots. The onboard sensors are now becoming more integrated with the UAV control system, giving an increase level of intelligence. To become truly useful the UAV of tomorrow must fly beyond visual range, and this will require higher performance wireless links.
Aerial photography is the prime use of UAVs, and due to the flight characteristics of small aircraft, the images require special processing techniques.
